How to Write a LinkedIn Profile in English That Gets You Noticed
For international opportunities, your LinkedIn profile is your storefront — and a directly translated Russian profile reads awkwardly to recruiters. Here is how to write each section in natural, professional English.
The headline is not your job title
Your headline should say what value you deliver, not just your role. 'Financial Analyst' is weak; 'Financial Analyst helping SMEs turn data into decisions' gets clicks.
The 'About' section tells a story
Write the About in the first person, warm and specific. Avoid empty adjectives (responsible, communicative). Show results and a clear focus instead. Recruiters skim — lead with your strongest point.
Describe experience with verbs and numbers
Start bullet points with action verbs (led, built, grew, cut) and quantify: 'grew revenue 30%'. Avoid passive Russian-style phrasing like 'was responsible for'. Impact language sells.
Keywords recruiters actually search
LinkedIn is a search engine. Include the exact English terms recruiters type for your field, naturally across your profile. The right keywords are what surface you in searches.
